Examining Child Maltreatment-Related Investigations of Children from Newcomer and non-Newcomer Households in Ontario, Canada

Objectives: The study aims to further the understanding of child welfare involvement with Newcomer families in Ontario, Canada 2018. This examines a) rate and characteristics maltreatment-related investigations involving b) differences between non-Newcomer families.
 
 Methods: is a secondary data analysis Ontario Incidence Study Reported Child Abuse Neglect-2018 (OIS-2018). Using Statistics Census Data, Population-based Disparity Index (PDI) was calculated for families. Descriptive bivariate chi-square analyses were conducted determine households.
 Results: PDI incidence children under age 15 from households versus 2018 2.48.
 Implications: findings suggest that investigation more than twice as likely occur if involves household, when compared household Ontario. demonstrates need collaboration communities their social service providers better understand risk factors involvement, increase protective
